President's Message

Balbir Singh Rajewal - President

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Education is not just getting admitted in a College, learning subjects, gathering information, clearing examination and obtaining certificates and degrees. It is a lifelong experience. The challenges which we face in our lives often turn out to be our best teachers.

The educators need to understand that education does not end up with the routine text books teaching and completion of syllabi. Teachers must encourage their students to ask as many questions as they can, for in wanting to know lies, the real learning.

The thirst for knowledge is not restricted to the student. It is essential for a teacher also. Teachers must add up to their knowledge bank by regularly visiting the College library, by maintaining their own personal library and by reading as much as possible and ensuring that students also develop this habit.

I received the fundamentals of my education in the class rooms, but that was not enough. My real education, the superstructure, the details, the true architecture, I got out of the library. For an impoverished child whose family could not afford to buy books, the library was the open door to wonder and achievements, and I can never be sufficiently grateful that I had the wit to charge through that and make the most of it. - Isaac Asimov (American writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University)

Another point I would like to emphasize in this message is that the teachers have to be the role models. What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches.

A word for the parents: your duty does not end up by getting your ward admitted to the College, rather it begins with that. Please do visit the institution quite often, meet the Principal and your ward’s teachers and keep a watch on his/her progress. Together we can shape your ward’s destiny.

I will end up this message with the request to the Principal, teaching staff, assisting staff, students and the respected parents; let us dedicate ourselves for achievement of the true goal of education which according to the great thinker and social activist Martin Luther King, Junior, is building up of character coupled with intelligence
